London is most definitely a world famous, mammoth city. It feels like five cities in one, connected by a tangled web of transport networks. The question is, where does one start to explore?
Jumping in Head first, The Secret Garden Atlas team have scouted out something lovely in the Kings Cross area.
The Driver is a London pub with an unusual difference; the façade is a lush green wall, designed by non other than Patrick Blanc, innovator of the modern day vertical garden. Blanc, a French Botanist, creates these gardens by attaching a steel frame covered in a special felt to a load-bearing wall. Plants are carefully selected for vertical growth and contribute to the stylised pattern effect.
Such a vertical garden is a rare occurrence in London and a joy to behold. It injects a burst of vibrant colour to its surroundings and softens the building lines. Definitely worth a visit and maybe even stop off for a drink?
